Welcome! You’ve built something really interesting in this space. Start us off by telling our readers what your business is all about and how you fit into the OF world.

I'm Erika Icon, and I own The Rub PR, one of the top PR firms in adult. We work with performers, creators, directors, studios, and companies. We handle everything from press releases to interviews, award nominations and wins, toy deals, mainstream movie deals, and magazine placements.

Each client has a blueprint of what they want, and this is something we discuss with them before they start. The team typically develops a marketing approach from the outset and follows it closely; we can adjust the direction when necessary. Our clients are blown away by the creativity we bring to marketing. My background as an art director and copywriter in advertising, writing for some of the top mainstream and adult publications, combined with my art degree from UCLA, has all come in handy as a publicist. PR is definitely not a one-size-fits-all thing.

What inspired you to dive into the business side of OnlyFans? Was there something missing in the space that you wanted to solve?

I was burnt out after working as an art director and copywriter in advertising. I needed something new. While planning my next move, I was browsing jobs on Craigslist. I saw an ad for a company that was the Netflix of porn, WantedList. They rented DVDs and had a queue similar to Netflix's original business model.

While working as a DVD buyer and running the place at WantedList, I became good friends with Megan Stokes, the VP of Shane’s World and a vendor. She gave me my first opportunity to do PR on a consulting basis. When Shane’s World was sold, I decided to make it my full-time job. I left WantedList and worked for a guy who owned two studios. Let's say it was a nightmare job, but it's good that it was because it gave me the idea to start my own company. When I started my company, there were only two other publicists, so there was definitely a need for another PR firm. That was 16 years ago, and The Rub PR is stronger than ever.

Recently, I was nominated for WIA Woman of the Year at the XBIZ Executive Awards, and I wished I had won, especially since Megan was presenting the award. It was interesting to come full circle in that way. I owe her a lot for giving me a shot and have thanked her many times.

Why do you love being a part of this industry, whether on the creator or business side?

I really do love my job. No two days are alike, and I would say most days, I'm excited to wake up and tackle the day. I also love the people. I've met some incredible people who have been lifelong friends, and some have gone on to become clients. Two of my best friends are industry podcasters — one was someone who reached out to us for guests, and another started out as a client. It's wild the people you meet and the roles they take on in your life.

Tell us something quirky, funny, or totally unexpected about your business journey so far!

There are so many crazy stories that have happened along the way. People tell me I should write a book, but I couldn’t use people’s real names. One that comes to mind was when I was filming “Botched” in Beverly Hills with Kimber James about 10 years ago. The paparazzi chased us because they thought she was Heidi Montag. Then, we filmed in a bar and a baby store in this woman’s garage. The whole crew cracked up when I said the baby doll made the O-face. Maybe we shouldn’t have filmed at the bar first. When the episode aired on TV, they took everything out of context. At one point, it had me saying working with Kimber was like a circus. It’s on Netflix now. People still recognize me, but I tell them they’re mistaken. I’d rather be known for my Cosmo, Wall Street Journal, and PR Week interviews.

How do you see the creator economy evolving, especially on platforms like OnlyFans?

I think OnlyFans, as a platform and others like it, could be gone in the next few years. Many performers are returning to the official site business model, as it offers fewer restrictions, paperwork, and other requirements. People miss the freedom and being the center of attention, rather than getting lost in the sea of different people on some of these sites. I think DVDs might even make a comeback with age restrictions and geo-blocking going on. We've already seen creators who said they would never work for studios becoming performers. We could go back to adult content in the 90s.

We’ve learned so much—let’s wrap with how people can find you, follow you, or reach out if they want to connect.

We're on X, IG, and TikTok at @therubpr. Look for our new company website, https://therubpr.com/, to launch in the next month. And I'm starting a podcast, High Tea with Porn Stars, which will be available on all major podcast platforms. We'll be discussing what people in the industry do when they're not working, so everyone can see that they're real people with hobbies and interests, too.

SPECIAL INTERVIEW

Two Months. Two Icons. One PR Powerhouse.

Featuring: Erika Icon

Thank you, Joseph, for all that you’ve done for our clients. We really appreciate it. 2026 marks 20 years in the industry for me. I started as a DVD buyer, and one of my vendors asked me to do PR on a consultant basis. From there, I worked in PR for multiple studios before founding The Rub PR in 2008. What don’t we do?! LOL, we focus on press releases, interviews, and awards. But we also secure our clients’ toy deals, ambassador gigs, magazine placements, signing opportunities at trade shows, presenting awards, being on panels, their own podcasts, and much more. Many clients appreciate working with us because we’re a woman-owned company that produces results and genuinely cares not only about our clients’ success but also their overall well-being.

Podcast & Audio Production

The podcast you can't live without

Featuring: Krystal Galtry & Tori Lindrea

1. We’re genuinely excited to be part of this feature, so thank you for having us. Tori and I have both been in the industry for over six years now. Tori started out in dancing and OF — she ditched the corporate world early on when she realised her real passion was in creating, performing and owning her art. She also models and, like me, has fallen in love with travel this year. At first glance she can look sweet and angelic, but don’t be fooled — she’s bubbly, bold, always ready for a night out, and one of the most genuine people you will ever meet. As for me, I’ve worked almost every corner of the industry — behind the desk in brothels, behind the bar in strip clubs, and I create on OF as well. I’ve helped plenty of women get started in the space, from setting up profiles to navigating the backend and the realities of sex work. I’m a tattooed model for local brands and have been featured on a few magazine covers over the years. I’ve always been a bit of a gypsy — I’ve been travelling solo around the world since I was 18 and I’m very much a “yes” girl. I’ll try anything once… and now I’ve slowly dragged Tori into my mischief too. We’re both single, we’re both proud Sex Workers, and we feel empowered working alongside each other. We met just over three years ago at a photoshoot and basically never separated after that. Once we started talking, we realised we had stories — the kind you only really understand if you’ve lived this life from the inside. That’s where The Naked Truth Podcast came from: two friends with a lot to say, finally saying it out loud. After both creating on OF for over five years — doing solo work and collabs — we decided to take filming in a different direction and create a platform where other creators (and us) could actually tell our stories. We don’t do filters, we don’t sugarcoat, and we don’t pretend. We talk about everything from fly-me-outs and three-way dinners to online relationships and the custom content we make. There’s a price for everything in this world — and we’ll happily tell you what ours is. But underneath the chaos and the laughs, the real purpose of the podcast is to help normalize sex work and the stigma around it. We want people to see that we are real, grounded humans with real lives and real experiences worth listening to. Our industry isn’t something to whisper about — it’s something to understand, respect, and appreciate. The vision is big. Think Call Her Daddy or Pillow Talk, but with unapologetic Aussie energy and two girls who have actually lived the stories they tell. We’re ready for our shine. 2026 is going to be the year we scale — starting by teaming up with Sxhibition and taking the podcast on the road right across Australia.

She Said “I Can Do Better”… And Did.

Featuring: Melyssa Lesieur

Hi! I’m Melyssa. I’m originally from Paris and I used to be a cabaret dancer back home, which is really where my love for lingerie started. I’ve always been fascinated by the way a beautiful set can make you feel: powerful, feminine, and unapologetically yourself. After moving to Australia, I decided to turn that passion into something tangible. Earlier this year, in February 2025, I launched my own lingerie brand called MELYSSA Lingerie. It’s a high-end, women-owned brand that celebrates confidence, sensuality, and self-expression: lingerie made for women to wear for themselves, not just for someone else. It’s been an amazing journey so far building the brand from scratch, designing every piece, and sharing it with a community of women who connect with that message. I take pride in making pieces that stand out while being comfortable to wear because no one likes having to wear an itchy lace.

OnlyFans Goes To Business School

Featuring: Rachael McCrary

Thank you for having me. I’m Rachael McCrary. I’m a lingerie designer, entrepreneur, and founder of Spice Rack, which is all about creating the best-fitting underwear in the world with a little extra personality. Every piece has its own “spice level,” from soft vanilla basics to bold picante moments, because I believe lingerie should match your mood, not just your outfit. On OnlyFans, I’ve built something a little different... it’s a space where I blend creativity, business mentorship, and glamour. I teach people how to turn their own ideas into real companies while giving them a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to actually build a brand from the ground up. It’s part inspiration, part education, and part art. I love connecting with people who are chasing their own version of success. If you’re into fashion, entrepreneurship, or just watching someone build something beautiful and bold, come hang out with me on @spiceworld or peek into what we’re creating at shopspicerack.com and follow me on IG @NYCBella.
