We really appreciate you taking the time to speak with us today. Before we get into the details surrounding your upcoming event appearance, can you share some background about yourself, your business, what inspired you to start it, and what makes your company stand out within your space or industry?
I’m MJ, and I’m the founder of Frenshy Kitten, a South Australian intimate wellness brand.
Frenshy Kitten started with a pretty simple idea. I wanted to create a brand where intimate wellness and pleasure could feel beautiful, fun, welcoming and completely normal. Somewhere people could explore what feels good for them, whether they’re discovering something for the first time or already know exactly what they love.
We started online with our own range of intimate wellness products, but it’s become so much more than simply selling products. One of my favourite parts of what we do is actually talking to people. We hear their stories, what they love, what they wish existed, what they’re curious about, and we learn a lot from those conversations.
And our customers are incredibly varied. We have women at completely different stages of life, couples exploring together, men shopping for themselves or their partners, and people from LGBTQIA+ communities who have their own experiences of pleasure and ideas about what they want from products in this space. We’re still learning all the time, and I think that’s really important. I never want Frenshy Kitten to assume we know what people want. I’d much rather ask them and listen.
That’s actually shaping a lot of what we’re doing next. We’re expanding into lingerie, with inclusive sizing being really important to us, and we’re currently creating the Frenshy Kitten Studio here in South Australia. I’m incredibly excited about the Studio because it gives us the opportunity to bring what we’ve been building online into a real space, with intimate wellness, education, events and experiences, and the chance to connect with people face to face.
Ultimately, I want Frenshy Kitten to be a brand where people feel comfortable talking about pleasure, exploring it and enjoying it. We definitely don’t pretend to know everything. I think listening, learning and growing alongside our customers is probably one of the most important things we can do.
Let’s shift into event mode for a moment. What upcoming event are you preparing for, and how did your involvement with the event first come together? We’d also love to hear more about the event itself — the audience it attracts, the type of experience it creates, and why you feel this event matters within your industry or community.
We’re getting ready for SXhibition Melbourne in September, and I’m really looking forward to it.
Over the last year or so, we’ve made a real effort to get Frenshy Kitten out from behind the website and in front of people, and that has taken us into some really different spaces. We’ve been part of women’s events and charity fundraisers, markets and burlesque shows, through to AVCon and even a fetish market. On paper they’re very different audiences, but that’s actually been one of the most interesting parts for us.
You learn so much when you’re standing there talking to people. Someone will pick up a product and ask a question, tell us what they already love, what they’ve been looking for, or what they wish someone would make. We’ve had some incredibly open and honest conversations with people, and I really value that. It gives us an insight into what pleasure and intimate wellness means to different people, rather than us assuming we already know.
AVCon was a great example of that. It put us in front of an audience we probably wouldn’t have reached in the same way through our usual channels, and they were very clear about what they liked and what they wanted more of. Experiences like that have really reinforced for me how important it is not to make assumptions about who your customer is.
That’s a big part of what appeals to me about SXhibition. It brings together lots of different people and different sides of the industry, and I think Frenshy Kitten fits really nicely into that mix. We get to introduce the brand to another audience, have more of those conversations and, importantly, keep listening.
And I love the energy of these events. There’s always a slightly mad lead-up where you wonder how everything is possibly going to get done, but once we’re there and talking to people, I absolutely love it.

What are your plans heading into the event, and what are you personally or professionally most excited about? Are there specific goals, partnerships, networking opportunities, launches, or conversations you’re hoping come out of the experience? And for attendees who plan to stop by, what can they expect from your business during the event itself?
This event feels a little extra special for us because Frenshy Kitten turns two on the Sunday of SXhibition, so we’ll actually be celebrating our second birthday in Melbourne! When I think about how much has happened in those two years, it feels like a pretty great place to mark it.
This is also our biggest event setup so far. We’ve got a 6 by 3 metre space, which gives us room to create something that really feels like Frenshy Kitten. Beautiful, welcoming, a little glamorous, and somewhere you actually want to come in and spend some time. People can wander through, pick things up, ask questions, have a chat and really experience the products rather than just seeing them online.
Our low heat massage candle is a perfect example. It’s one of our best sellers and we actually sold out of it the last time we were in Melbourne. Online we can tell you how beautiful it smells and explain that it melts into a warm massage oil, but once people smell it, feel it on their skin and understand how it works, they love it. So the candle will absolutely be burning on our stand!
I’m also really looking forward to meeting people. There’ll be attendees, businesses, educators, creators and people doing all sorts of interesting things within the industry. I’m naturally curious, so I’ll definitely be wandering around, asking questions and probably coming home with another ten ideas.
It’s an exciting time for Frenshy Kitten too. Our lingerie range is coming, we’re creating the Frenshy Kitten Studio here in South Australia, and there are a few other things bubbling away behind the scenes.
Mostly though, if someone comes onto our stand, I want them to feel comfortable. Come in, have a look, ask us anything, have a laugh, tell us what you love or what you wish existed. If they walk away having discovered something new and knowing Frenshy Kitten a little better, I’ll be very happy.
One of the things people rarely think about is the amount of work that happens long before attendees ever arrive. We’d love for you to take us behind the curtain a bit and share how your business is preparing for the event. What kinds of meetings, creative planning, product preparation, scheduling, staffing, or strategy sessions have been happening behind the scenes leading up to the big day?
There is so much more that goes into an event than I ever appreciated before we started doing them!
We’ve gone bigger for SXhibition, so there’s been a lot to think about. The layout, furniture, displays, signage, stock, how people move through the space, where our team works and, importantly, how we hide all those very unglamorous boxes and supplies!
I’m quite particular about how Frenshy Kitten looks and feels, so I probably make life harder for myself. I want someone walking past to see something beautiful and want to come closer, but once they step inside, it needs to feel warm and relaxed.
Then there’s getting an Adelaide business and everything that goes with it to Melbourne. There are lists everywhere, lots of messages flying around and inevitably a few last-minute ideas that I really should have had three weeks earlier.
But I love watching it all come together. Hopefully when those doors open it looks completely effortless.

Since you have experience within this space, we’d love to ask you to either bust a few myths or share some pro tips with our readers. Are there common misconceptions people have about events like this, your industry, or the work your business actually does? And for readers looking to learn more or become more involved themselves, what advice or insights would you give them?
Probably the biggest misconception I’d love to get rid of is that intimate wellness and pleasure are somehow for a particular type of person. They’re not.
The more people we meet, the more obvious that becomes. People of different ages, relationships, sexualities and stages of life all have different wants, questions and experiences. There really isn’t a standard customer, and I think that’s one of the things I love most about this space.
My biggest tip is simply to ask questions. There are no silly ones. You don’t need to know exactly what you’re looking for, and you certainly don’t need to know all the terminology. Be curious, talk to people and find businesses where you feel comfortable having those conversations.
I also think it’s important for us to know where our expertise ends. We have a wonderful relationship with Nina Rose Pardo, founder of Sexology Down Under and a sexologist and intimacy counsellor based in the Northern Territory who works with clients across Australia. Nina believes in what we’re doing at Frenshy Kitten, and we have enormous respect for the work she does in sexual wellbeing.
We have Nina’s information available on our stand because sometimes someone needs more than a product or a conversation with us. Being able to connect them with a qualified professional who works in this space is important too.
I think pleasure should be something we can talk about without making it complicated. We’re all still learning, us included, and I actually think that’s a really good thing.
Thank you again for taking the time to sit down with us today and share more about your upcoming event participation. Before we wrap things up, can you let readers know why they should attend, the dates, times, and important event details they should know, how they can register or purchase tickets, and where people can follow both your business and the event itself on social media?
If you’re curious, come! I think that’s probably the best reason I can give you.
SXhibition is one of those events where you can make the experience whatever you want it to be. You can explore the exhibitors, see the performances, listen to the educators, meet people, ask questions or just wander around and take it all in. And definitely come and say hello to us at Frenshy Kitten. You’ll know you’ve found us when you can smell the massage candle!
SXhibition Melbourne is on 18 to 20 September 2026 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. There are four sessions across the weekend, including Friday and Saturday nights as well as daytime sessions on Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets are available through Sxhibition and you can use our code FRENSHY10 for 10% off.
You can follow Frenshy Kitten on Instagram and Facebook, and of course find us online at frenshykitten.com.au. That’s where we’ll also be sharing everything that’s coming next, including our lingerie range and the Frenshy Kitten Studio.
And if you’re coming to Sxhibition, please come and introduce yourself. We genuinely love meeting the people who follow us online. I’ll be the one on the stand probably talking too much!
