Can you tell us a little bit about yourself, your business, what your company specializes in, and the kinds of products, services, or experiences you provide within the industry?

Thank you so much for having me. I’m Belinda Gavin, the founder and director of SXhibition—Australia’s bold new intimacy, relationships, wellness and entertainment expo.

I’ve worked across the adult entertainment, events and production industries for more than three decades, both in Australia and internationally. My background includes film and television, major expos, live entertainment, large-scale productions and some truly iconic events. From 2019 to 2024, I also led Sexpo Australia, which gave me an incredible understanding of what audiences, creators, exhibitors and industry professionals genuinely want from a modern event.

SXhibition is the next generation of that experience. It’s louder, prouder, more inclusive and strongly focused on education, connection and reducing stigma. We bring together creators, performers, educators, health professionals, relationship experts and innovative brands in an exciting, welcoming environment.

Our events combine live entertainment, seminars, workshops, product discovery, creator experiences, meet-and-greets and open conversations about intimacy, relationships, pleasure, sexual health and mental wellbeing. Features include our Main Stage, the SX ED education stage- sponsored by Stigma Health, Creator’s Lounge, Tantra Temple, Kinky Dungeon, interactive demonstrations, competitions and exclusive VIP experiences.

We’d also love for you to give readers an overview of the event, what it represents within the industry, and why you think it’s such an important or exciting opportunity.

The upcoming event is SXhibition Melbourne, taking place at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from 18–20 September 2026.

My involvement is deeply personal because SXhibition grew from my own vision. After years of producing and managing major events, I saw an opportunity to create something that reflected how much the industry—and the conversations around intimacy—had evolved. I wanted to build an experience that felt current, elevated and genuinely representative of the people within it.

The Melbourne event is where that vision comes to life on a major scale. Over three days, the venue will become an energetic meeting place where online communities can connect in person, established names can share space with emerging talent, and businesses can introduce themselves directly to a highly engaged audience.

What excites me most is the opportunity it creates for everyone involved. Creators can strengthen their profiles and meet their supporters, brands can form meaningful relationships with new customers, and visitors can discover ideas and experiences they may never have encountered before.

Within the industry, SXhibition represents forward movement. It recognises that this space is not one-dimensional—it is creative, entrepreneurial, educational and constantly evolving. It deserves to be presented with professionalism, imagination and pride.

For me, the importance of SXhibition lies in its ability to bring people out from behind their screens and into a shared, real-world experience. Those face-to-face moments can lead to collaborations, friendships, business opportunities and conversations that continue long after the weekend ends. That sense of possibility is what makes the event so exciting.

What are your plans heading into the event, and what are you personally or professionally most excited about? Are there specific goals, partnerships, networking opportunities, launches, or conversations you’re hoping come out of the experience? And for attendees who plan to stop by, what can they expect from your business during the event itself?

Heading into the event, my focus is on creating an experience that feels exciting, valuable and memorable for everyone who walks through the doors. Professionally, I’m looking forward to strengthening relationships across the industry, creating new partnerships and giving creators, brands and educators meaningful opportunities to connect.

Our partnership with Stigma Health is something I’m especially proud of. Sexual health education should be accessible, practical and free from judgement, and their involvement allows us to present important conversations with qualified professionals in a way that feels welcoming and relevant. Attendees will be able to hear expert discussions, ask questions and leave with information they can genuinely use.

We also have an incredible lineup of special guests, including Jessika Power, Aubrey Black, Alexis Fawx, Julian Woods and Sarah Roza. They’ll be appearing across the weekend for meet-and-greets, hosting duties and special moments with attendees. Each brings a different audience, perspective and energy to the event, which is exactly what SXhibition is about.

For visitors wanting to explore and participate, the Kink Dungeon, Tantra Temple and SX ED Stage will offer three very different experiences. The Kink Dungeon provides a safe introduction to alternative play and practices; the Tantra Temple explores connection, sensuality and mindful intimacy; and the SX ED Stage brings professionals and lived experience together for honest, informative discussions.

My biggest goal is for people to leave having learned something, discovered something or experienced something new. I also want the weekend to generate genuine collaborations and important conversations that extend well beyond the event. Whether attendees come to meet someone they admire, explore a curiosity or connect with the industry, they can expect a vibrant, inclusive environment filled with opportunities to learn, discover and experience.

One of the things people rarely think about is the amount of work that happens long before attendees ever arrive. We’d love for you to take us behind the curtain a bit and share how your business is preparing for the event. What kinds of meetings, creative planning, product preparation, scheduling, staffing, or strategy sessions have been happening behind the scenes leading up to the big day?

The work behind SXhibition begins many months before the doors open. We have a strong and mighty remote team, with some members having worked together for years. This event also brings together the experience and expertise of two powerhouse event companies, creating an exceptional mix of industry knowledge, production capability and genuine passion.

What makes this team particularly special is that many of them have demanding full-time careers, yet they continue working on SXhibition during their evenings and weekends because they truly believe in what we’re building. There have been endless late nights, early mornings, video meetings, production calls and constantly evolving schedules.

Behind the scenes, we’re coordinating everything from talent, entertainment and stage programming to exhibitors, sponsors, ticketing, marketing, venue operations, risk management, staffing and security. Every feature has its own moving parts, and they all need to come together seamlessly inside one enormous event.

There are always last-minute changes in events. Performers’ schedules shift, logistics change and unexpected obstacles appear. Our team’s ability to remain flexible, solve problems quickly and support one another is one of our greatest strengths. Everyone steps outside their official role when necessary because the success of the overall event matters more than individual job titles.

I sometimes jokingly call SXhibition my “community service” because of the extraordinary amount of unpaid time, care and energy I personally invest in bringing it to life. But underneath the joke is something very real: I believe Australia needs an event like this, and I feel a responsibility to create it properly.

Producing a show of this size and complexity requires a very particular combination of experience, resilience, relationships and absolute determination. There are very few people in Australia with the background required to manage a beast like SXhibition—and I’m incredibly proud to be leading the remarkable team capable of delivering it.

As someone actively involved in this industry, you probably hear a lot of misconceptions from people on the outside looking in. What are a few myths you’d love to clear up about the event world, your business category, or the industry itself? We’d also love for you to share a few practical tips or insights that attendees, aspiring professionals, or potential clients could benefit from hearing.

One of the biggest myths is that “sex sells.” In reality, it can be one of the hardest industries to promote, particularly online. Adult-industry businesses, creators and events are regularly deleted, discriminated against, restricted, shadow-banned or prevented from advertising—even when the content is professional, educational and fully compliant. We often have to work twice as hard to reach the same audience as a mainstream event.

My first piece of advice is to keep it classy. You can be bold, provocative and entertaining while still presenting yourself professionally. Strong branding, clear communication and reliability will always help you stand out.

Secondly, never burn bridges. This is a close-knit industry, and relationships matter. Treat everyone well—from major sponsors and headline talent to volunteers and first-time exhibitors. Be kind, communicate clearly and remember that reputations travel quickly.

Persistence is also essential. A “no” today does not necessarily mean “never.” You may not know why someone cannot participate—budgets, timing or internal approvals may be working against them. Keep the relationship positive because they may be ready for the next event.

For attendees, my advice is to arrive curious and open-minded. Speak with the educators, ask professionals questions, meet the creators and explore areas outside your usual interests. The event is designed to help people discover new ideas without pressure or judgement.

For aspiring professionals, show up prepared. Bring your business cards or QR code, introduce yourself confidently and follow up with the people you meet. The most valuable opportunity may come from a conversation you never expected to have.

And if you work anywhere within the adult, creator, intimacy or sexual-wellness space, SXhibition is the show to attend. There simply isn’t another Australian event currently bringing this breadth of the industry together in the same way.
